Use the Overview dashboard for real-time and over-time data insights on course enrollments and user engagement

About Overview dashboard

The Overview dashboard in Analytics shows data happening right now and over time on your Learnster vendor. The Overview gives you unique data insight into course enrollments and user engagement. It can help you track trends over time enabling data-driven decisions for optimization.

Accessing Overview

To open Overview:

  1. In Studio, click the Analytics icon located in the left sidebar.

  2. The Overview dashboard is displayed.


Data section types

The Overview dashboard includes two types of data sections:

1. Widget sections

  • Show real-time data.

  • Data points are selected in the widget dropdown (e.g. Total users and Total teams).

2. Graphs and lists sections

  • Show data over time and for different time periods.

  • Time periods are selected in the dropdown.

Note: The data in the Overview dashboard is from January 2024 (when Analytics was released) and onwards.


Data points specifications

The Overview data sections include various data points. Below are images and detailed descriptions of each data point, along with explanations of the underlying data sources.

User overview (widget)

User overview

The user overview widget shows real-time data about, e.g., users, teams, and course progress.

Data point description:

Widget view:

  • In the Widgets dropdown, you can select what data to display. You can reorder by dragging items within the list.

  • Note: only four items can be displayed at once.

Total users

  • Displays the current number of users (real-time).

  • Growth or decrease data based on 30 day period.

Total teams

  • Displays the current number of teams within the client's vendor (real-time).

  • Growth or decrease data based on 30 day period.

Completion rate

  • The percentage of participants who have completed the courses they are enrolled in (real-time).

  • Calculated by dividing the number of completed participants by the total number of participants.

  • Archived and Unpublished are included in Completion rate.

  • Growth or decrease data based on 30 day period.

Compliance rate

  • The percentage of participants that are compliant in compliance courses.

  • Calculated by dividing the number of certified participants with number of participants enrolled to published compliance courses (real-time).

  • Only includes published courses (not Unpublished or Archived)

  • Growth or decrease data based on 30 day period.

In progress

  • The percentage of participants who have published courses in progress (real-time).

  • Calculated by dividing the number of participants that have In progress status with total number of participants.

  • 'In progress' statuses:

    • ONGOING

    • PENDING

    • WAITING FOR APPROVAL

    • WAITING FOR DATE

    • FAILED

  • Only includes published courses (not Unpublished or Archived).

  • Growth or decrease data based on 30 day period.

User enrollment (graph)

The User enrollment graph shows how Learners have been enrolled in courses over time; either assigned or self-enrolled.

Data point description:

Widget view:

  • Displays the number of users who have enrolled in courses over time, segmented by enrollment type: assigned and self-enrolled enrollments.

  • Hover over a bar to view specific data.

  • Users can hover over individual columns to see the number of self-enrolled and assigned enrollments for the corresponding month.

  • Filter the chart by selecting a time period:

    • Last year (split by months),

    • Last 6 months (split by months)

    • Last 3 months (split by weeks)

Course overview

The course overview widget shows real-time data about the number of total courses, catalog courses, compliance courses and published courses.

Data point description:

Widget view:

  • In the Widgets dropdown, you can select what data to display. You can reorder by dragging items within the list.

Total courses

  • The total number of courses within a Learnster vendor. Includes drafted, archived, and published courses.

  • Archived and Unpublished are included in Total courses.

  • Growth or decrease data based on 30 day period.

Catalog courses

  • The total number of courses published in the course catalog.

  • Only published courses (Archived excluded).

  • Growth or decrease data based on 30 day period.

Compliance courses

  • The total number of compliance courses that are published.

  • Only published courses (Archived excluded).

  • Growth or decrease data based on 30 day period.

Published courses

  • The total number of published courses.

  • Only published courses (Archived excluded).

  • Growth or decrease data based on 30 day period.

Completed courses (graph)

The Completed courses graph shows the number and types of courses completed over time.

Data point description:

Widget view:

  • Hover over a bar to view specific data.

  • Displays the number of courses completed over time, segmented by course type:

    • Online: courses that consist of online activities, including scheduled online events.

    • On-site: courses that only consist of a block or several blocks with scheduled events with location.

    • Blended: courses that consist of both scheduled events with location and blocks with online activities.

  • Filter the chart by selecting a time period:

    • Last year (split by months),

    • Last 6 months (split by months)

    • Last 3 months (split by weeks)

Course status

The Course status graph shows course status over time.

Data point description:

Widget view:

  • Displays course status over time using a stacked area chart.

  • Hover over an area to view specific data.

  • Each course status: Published, Drafted, and Archived, are represented as separate areas.

  • Filter the chart by selecting a time period and hover over to view data.

  • Filter the chart by selecting a time period:

    • Last year (split by months),

    • Last 6 months (split by months)

    • Last 3 months (split by weeks)

Trending courses

The Trending course list shows the top 5 courses based on All enrollments, Catalog enrollments, and Activity.

Data point description:

Widget view:

  • Trending courses consist of three tabs: All enrollments, Catalog enrollments, and Activity.

  • Each tab lists the top 5 courses based on their respective criteria All enrollments, Catalog enrollments, and Activity (descriptions below).

  • All enrollments shows the top courses with the most enrollments, including both assigned and self-enrolled courses.

  • Catalog enrollments shows the top courses with the most self-enrollments made through the catalog.

  • Activity shows the top courses with the most number of completed pages by users.

  • Filter the trending courses by period:

    • Last 30 days or

    • Last 7 days
